Dear Dr. Rushin,

Thanks so very much for making my treatment in your office easy. I had anticipated that the dental procedure would be just as it had been in the past, but you were right in what you said to me on my first visit! It was good!
As you know, I am a high anxiety patient in the dental office. My anticipation of something bad happening in a dental office was expected. However, the dental consultation was very easy going, the consultation with the lady in the front office was calming, and the actual work done on my teeth was amazing. My jaw did not become locked as it had done in the past.
After the first consultation with you, I was very wary about having three crowns and a root canal done at one time. I just knew that the pain during and afterwards was going to be unbearable. But after taking the medication before I came into your office and taking the medication after I came that morning for the dental work, there was no pain. In fact, all that I can remember after taking the medication was the chair reclining and your assistant walking around the room preparing for the work to be done. When your assistant left the room and turned out the lights, I decided that I might as well close my eyes and take a nap. The next thing I remember I was waking up on the sofa at my friend Ann's house. Ann later told me that she took me to Revco to get my prescriptions, where I had to give her my insurance card and driver's license, and to McDonald's to get a milkshake. I do not remember any of these happening. Those pills are wonderful! Where have they been?
Last week I had to come back to your office and have an impression done for the crown work to be complete. I was very nervous. I remembered having to sink my teeth into a pasty gel for over two minutes in other dentist offices, only to have the dentist have trouble getting the pasty gel off my teeth. The taste of this paste was horrible! But when I sat in the chair, Kim explained to me that she was going to squirt this gel on my teeth. After she did this, I bit down. All I had to do was keep my teeth together for a minute. She took the hardened gel off, no residue was left on my teeth, and no horrible taste was left in my mouth. The gel was like silly putty when it was completed. Then she had you look at the gel. It was all right. I got to leave.
Today, again, I was anticipating pain as the temporary caps were taken off and the permanent caps were put on. Even though I had to sit in the waiting room longer than I would have liked to do, once I got the nitrous oxide on my nose and the Novocain on my gums, I was relaxed to have the work done on my teeth.
I am so thankful to the Lord for showing me your ad in the yellow pages of the phone book. I am also thankful to the Lord for carrying me through this walk of life to get my teeth back in proper alignment. I just wanted to thank you for your help in making my first dental work in your office so easy to do. I know that I have a lot of work left to be done on my teeth before they are completely fixed. But I know that I can trust you to help me get them fixed.
Thanks again for your patience and understanding. I am glad I have you for my dentist. I know that with you as my dentist, my anxiety with dentists will one day be totally gone.
I hope that as a parent, you will help your children to have a comfortable feeling in the dentist office as well as a comfortable time when they begin to lose their baby teeth. No one, especially children, should ever have to go through experiences like I have gone through in my lifetime. Thanks again for everything you have done to make my trip to the dentist better.

Sincerely yours,
Phyllis Morriss
